CDIO Academy

The CDIO program is designed to give students an active role in their education; an opportunity to participate in their learning process by doing. CDIO stresses the use of design projects, open-ended problems and group work because these encourage students to actively engage in their education, rather than listen passively to a lecture.

This type of work also develops skills beyond pure technical knowledge, such as communication and teamwork, creative and critical thinking, engineering reasoning and problem-solving. The CDIO initiative also attempts to put engineering education into a broader context. The role of engineers in society goes far beyond the ability to design something. Engineers must be aware of the social and environmental impact of their work and their ethical responsibilities. Overall, the CDIO approach makes students more attractive to employers, because they are better prepared for the world of engineering.

Finally, whenever financially feasible, students attend regional and international meetings and conferences. These are great opportunities for them to meet their peers from around the world and to get involved at the international level.
